The Pilcher Organ
The Pilcher Organ
Built in 1924 for the Unity Evangelical and Reformed Church, then located on South Fifth Street, Paducah, KY, this fine organ was beloved by that congregation until 1962 when the church moved to a new building on Buckner Lane. The old church building was scheduled to be razed and the organ had been consigned to the junkyard when it was rescued, renovated and installed in Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Specifications
The tonal design is American Romantic, typical of the period in which it was built. Since being moved to Margaret Hank Church, four stops have been added: 8' Trumpet Reed, III RK Mixture, 4' and 2' Principal. These stops have added brilliance to a very warm and colorful tone for a well balanced effect for an organ of this size. Unusual, but beautiful, is the inclusion of a Celestial Harp on the Swell manual. Maas Cathedral Chimes are on the Great and Pedal manuals.
